27343 (2025). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: What has been the average cost, if any, of installing an electric vehicle charger through the Government EV co-investment initiative?

Hon Simon Watts: EECA has provided co-funding support for public EV charger projects since 2017. While charger installation costs vary significantly on a case-by-case basis, the average total installation cost of a public EV charger (not just the government contribution) has been $1,400/kW. This is an average installation cost for a 7kW AC charger of about $9,800 and an average installation cost for a 150kW DC charger of about $210,000.
