Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Prime Minister: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, how many employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, are women, as at 30 May 2024?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the Responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). There are currently no employees who have lost, or are set to lose their roles, arising from the Government’s fiscal sustainability programme as at 30 May 2024. The DPMC are unable to predict whether vacancies that will not be filled would be filled by any particular gender.
