Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: What analysis, if any, indicates that the Ministry of Social Development payments are at an appropriate level to be used as the payment level that other Ministries, such as the Ministry of Health, should be raised to?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education and Oranga Tamariki average settlement payments are comparable to each other when considering the type, severity and frequency of abuse suffered. The Ministry of Health/Crown Health Financing Agency paid much lower on average (excluding the Lake Alice Child and Adolescent Unit) for similar experiences of abuse.
