27071 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: What advice, if any, was Cabinet provided regarding other countries' redress systems when assessing options for the Government's response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care's recommendation to establish an independent redress system?
Hon Erica Stanford: I refer the Member to the Cabinet paper titled "Work programme for the Crown's response to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry, including the next stages of work for the design of redress for survivors of abuse in care" at https://www.abuseinquiryresponse.govt.nz/information-releases/cabinet-papers-and-minutes Cabinet also received advice of other countries' systems in April 2025. This paper will be proactively released this month.
