27045 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: What criteria, if any, will apply to claims from survivors of abuse in care who have been sentenced to five years or more in prison for serious sexual and/or violent crimes?
Hon Erica Stanford: Survivors of abuse in care who have been sentenced to five years or more in prison for serious sexual and/or violent crime who lodge a new claim with a redress agency will have that claim assessed in the same way as any other survivor. The criteria that the independent decision maker will consider/apply in determining whether the person receives financial redress is currently under active consideration.
