27036 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What business case and value-for-money assessment supported building a third medical school rather than expanding the existing Auckland and Otago programmes, and will the Minister release it?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that a detailed business case and full, independent cost-benefit analysis of a new medical school at the University of Waikato has been completed. The Ministry of Health has released the detailed business case and cost-benefit analysis on their website at https://www.health.govt.nz/information-releases/cabinet-and-briefing-material-establishing-a-new-medical-school.
