27024 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the total remaining Holidays Act liability, and by what date will all affected current and former health workers be paid?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that as at the end of May 2026, current staff in 18 of 20 districts have received remediation payments. Current staff in the remaining two districts (Lakes and Whanganui) are scheduled to receive interim payments in August and October respectively, with final payments being made by June 2027. In addition, initial payments have been made to former employees in 11 out of 20 districts. Payments for former staff will continue in batches once individual calculations are completed for each district and as former employees register and are validated on the Health NZ Holidays Act portal.
