27017 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: Can a survivor of abuse in care who has already received a payment under claim pathways prior to the 9 May 2025 announcement regarding changes to the redress system lodge a new claim to be assessed against whether or not their abuse was egregious; if not, why?
Hon Erica Stanford: I refer the member to my response to WPQ 27015 (2025). In addition. previous redress payments for closed claims acknowledged a survivor's experience of abuse. Survivors who received a higher than average redress payment will also receive a higher than average top-up payment.
