Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Did Ministry of Education staff recently meet with Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers to lay out a new process for allocating Schools Onsite Training Programme (SOTP) funding and if so, was the CE of the Teachers’ Institute present at that meeting?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Education met with five Initial Teacher Education providers in April 2026 to share proposed options for the 2027 School Onsite Training Programme. The Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers’ Institute was present at the meeting alongside four other ITE representatives
