Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, how many employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, are health and safety professionals, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that as at 30 May 2024, one New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) Health and Safety role has been disestablished. This role was vacated prior to Customs’ organisational change programme commencing. However, this role has been replaced with a new Health and Safety role, leaving no overall reduction in Health and Safety roles or capacity as part of Customs’ organisational change programme.
