26844 (2023). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Climate Change: Does the Minister intend to ensure “…that exotic planting on LUC class 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will not be permitted to enter the ETS [Emissions Trading Scheme] for Carbon Sequestration”, as found on page 38 of the 2023 New Zealand First Party manifesto, and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aides memoire, or any other documents, if any, has the Minister or any member of their Office received during the week of 4/12/2023 on this, by title and date?

Hon Simon Watts: I am not responsible for a political party’s manifesto. I intend to progress the priorities outlined in the Speech from the Throne and the coalition agreements that are relevant to my portfolio. The Minister of Forestry and I received a briefing related to this topic on 8 December 2023. I am not releasing the title at this time, as the title includes information that is under active consideration.
