26822 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Customs: What cuts or reprioritised savings, if any, in the Votes the Minister has responsibility for, if any, in 2025/26 were the result of an underspend in 2024/25 year?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised by the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) that through Budget 2025, $3.2 million of unspent funding was transferred from the 2024/25 financial year to the 2026/27 and 2027/28 financial years to address future cost pressures. These savings were identified through Customs’ fiscal sustainability programme and came from the multi-category Border Clearance and Enforcement appropriation
