Hon Mark Mitchell: Budget 2026 was limited to new initiatives and cost pressures by invite only. While I was informed of additional cost pressures across a four-year period within Vote Corrections prior to Budget 2026, these were prioritised and limited due to the fiscal environment and a Justice Sector envelope for funding. As the cost pressures not progressed may be the subject of a future Budget bid additional information on these cannot be disclosed to maintain the current constitutional conventions protecting the confidentiality of advice tendered by Ministers and officials. If any information on Budget bids is deemed in the public interest it will be proactively released.
