26730 (2023). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: What are the Minister’s policy objectives for their portfolio and when does the Minister expect to achieve these objectives?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am excited to have the opportunity to be New Zealand’s first Minister for Mental Health. I will be working with our health system and across Government on different touch points that effect and support positive mental wellbeing in New Zealand. My three priority areas are: - Increasing access - Growing our workforce - Focusing on early intervention and prevention It’s clear that the last Government’s work on Mental Health was a lot about the announcements and not a lot about the delivery. My priority is to deliver the mental health services that Kiwis expect and deserve. I will be working with officials to develop a range of policy to achieve this.
