26675 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for the Environment: How many staff, if any, at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy and (b) all other forms of redundancy; and of those, how many have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same agency, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part-time), as at 5 June 2026?

Hon Nicola Grigg: I refer the Member to the attached table which provides the requested monthly breakdown of redundancies at the Ministry for the Environment since 27 November 2023. Of the 230 redundancies, nine have been appointed to a new role at the Ministry: two in contractor roles and seven in fixed term roles. Consultancy engagements are entered into with the company (not the individual) and therefore the Ministry does not necessarily have full visibility of all individuals (unless specified). For this reason, the Ministry cannot respond in regard to consultants. The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has not appointed any staff previously made redundant to a new role since 27 November 2023. For the number of redundancies at the EPA, I refer the Member to question 68 of Supplementary Estimates Questionnaire for Vote Environment when published by the Environment Committee in June 2026.
