Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Prime Minister: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, what demographic data is being collected about the number of staff being made redundant, as at 30 May 2024?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the Responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). No staff have been made redundant in the DPMC arising from the Government’s fiscal sustainability programme as at 30 May 2024. The DPMC does not directly gather demographic data on any change process, however it reports annually to the Public Service Commission and externally on staff demographic data.
