26624 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Health
Written Question
Published date: 27 Jul 2026
26624 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Health: How many staff, if any, at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy and (b) all other forms of redundancy; and of those, how many have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same agency, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part-time), as at 5 June 2026?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that information on redundancies since 27 November 2023 is not held by Health New Zealand in a consolidated format that would enable data to be broken down by month or by types of redundancy. Gathering this information is not possible within the time available. I am therefore advised that providing the Member with this information would require Health New Zealand to undertake a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210-6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
