26589 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Prime Minister: What redundancy or restructuring costs, if any, have been incurred by any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by organisation, the number of positions disestablished, and the total cost of redundancy payments, as at 5 June 2026?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025. My response includes NEMA information to 24 September 2025.
I am advised that the cost of the redundancies from 27 November 2023 to 5 June 2026 is $852, 802.00 (rounded). Regarding positions affected resulting from restructures, I refer the member to my responses to Written Parliamentary Question 62318 (2024) and12030 (2026).
