26499 (2026). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What specific oversight mechanisms, if any, are in place to monitor spending within the Transport Rebuild East Coast (TREC) alliance?

Hon Chris Bishop: As with all Alliances, there are multiple oversight levels to monitor and approve spend. In addition to standard and ongoing contract management processes, invoice submission and approval processes, the TREC Alliance is required to engage independent external auditors to review claims against NZTA requirements and policies that are submitted for payment.
