26475 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many staff, if any, at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy and (b) all other forms of redundancy; and of those, how many have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same agency, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part-time), as at 5 June 2026?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that a total of 159 permanent employees have been made redundant since 27 November 2023 of which 25 were voluntary redundancies. Two employees have been appointed to new jobs. Classification Office: I am advised that the Classification Office has not made any staff redundant since 27 November 2023. Lotto New Zealand: I am advised by Lotto New Zealand that ten employees have been made redundant since 27 November 2023 from Lotto NZ. These were all by way of involuntary redundancy and no employees were subsequently re-appointed to new roles. Fire and Emergency New Zealand: As at 05 June 2026, eight staff have been made redundant since 27 November 2023. None of those were voluntary redundancies, and none have been reappointed to a new role.
