26464 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Housing
Written Question
Published date: 30 Jun 2026
26464 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Housing: How many staff, if any, at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy and (b) all other forms of redundancy; and of those, how many have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same agency, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part-time), as at 5 June 2026?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that between 27 November 2023 and 5 June 2026, two people who had previously been Kāinga Ora employees and had left by reason of redundancy were subsequently appointed to a new role – one as a permanent employee, the other as a fixed-term employee. Both arrangements took place with the appropriate approvals in place.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development advises me that the number of people made redundant, and the number of previous employees employed or engaged again by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is published annually as part of the Estimates for Vote Housing and Urban Development. My responses to supplementary written questions 1 to 84 are available on the Parliament website at: https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/submissions-and-advice/document/54SCSSC_EVI_0110ef26-127b-4832-cdca-08dd9cbad1c0_SSC20917/minister-of-housing-responses-to-supplementary-written.
