26410 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: Which agencies, departments, Crown entities, companies, or other organisations for which the Minister is responsible, if any, have been required to identify or deliver baseline savings or staffing reductions since 27 November 2023, and how much, if anything, has each delivered, broken down by organisation and year, as at 5 June 2026?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections did not have a savings target at Budget 2026 and was not required to identify or deliver baseline savings or staffing reductions as part of that exercise. As part of Budget 2026, Corrections estimated $43 million of unfunded cost pressures that were expected to require internal baseline reprioritisation for 2026/27 onwards. As part of Budget 2026, Cabinet has agreed to a programme of reform aimed at transforming the public service to streamline how it is organised, accelerate digital transformation, strengthen leadership and talent and improve efficiency and productivity. Specific decisions on how these reforms will be achieved by agencies have not yet been made. Ministers have asked Chief Executives to work through what this means for their organisations. I am further advised that in 2025/26, the Vote Corrections operating baseline was reduced by $10.8 million and $12.8 million per year from 2026/27 as a result of the Budget 2025 Corrections Financial Sustainability and Reprioritisation – Efficiency Measures initiative. This is in addition to previous Budget 2024 Baseline savings reductions totalling over $106 million per year.
