26405 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Conservation: Which agencies, departments, Crown entities, companies, or other organisations for which the Minister is responsible, if any, have been required to identify or deliver baseline savings or staffing reductions since 27 November 2023, and how much, if anything, has each delivered, broken down by organisation and year, as at 5 June 2026?
Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation has delivered baseline savings through Budgets 2024, 2025 and 2026. Savings delivered are detailed in the attachment, and further information is available on the Department’s website. The Department had an FTE count on 30 April 2024 of 2,706 (includes permanent and fixed term staff). Budget savings from the baseline reduction and cost pressures resulted in 257 positions being disestablished. 114 of these were vacant. 133 new positions were established, which meant a reduction of 124 positions overall. A further 6 policy positions were reduced as part of Budget 2025.
