Camilla Belich to the Minister of Agriculture: What is the total sum, if any, spent on wages for any contractors and consultants who have been previously employed in a different capacity at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, as at 5 June 2026, broken down by month and organisation?

Hon Todd McClay: I am advised MPI has engaged two contractors who were previously employed by MPI. I am advised $4,025.00 was spent on one engagement between 27 November 2023 and 31 December 2023 for an international food safety standard specialist within New Zealand Food Safety; and $40,026.86 on a science and information specialist in Fisheries New Zealand within 17 March 2026 to 5 June 2026. MPI does not maintain records regarding contractor and consultants’ previous employment with other ministries, agencies, or department.
