Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, what are the total costs of staff redundancies, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the first round of voluntary redundancy in May has resulted in 45 staff taking this option. Not all staff who have taken this option had left the Ministry as at 30 May 2024. However, I am advised the total cost of these 45 redundancies will be approximately $1,540,000.
