26101 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Energy: What new user charges, if any, were introduced by the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, in 2024/25, and for each of these what is the total amount expected to be collected?
Hon Simon Watts: EECA does not directly collect user charges. However, each year EECA is appropriated Crown funding sourced from the government's energy levies - the Petroleum or Engine Fuel Monitoring (PEFM) levy, Electricity Industry levy, and Gas Safety, Monitoring and Energy Efficiency (GSMEE) levy. In 2024/25, EECA received $20.300 million from the energy levies. This was made up of $13.500 million from the PEFM levy, $5.100 million from the Electricity Industry levy, and $1.700 million from the GSMEE levy. This was no increase from EECA's levy funding of $20.300 million in 2023/24.
