Camilla Belich to the Minister of Housing: What is the total expenditure, actual or projected, if any, on staff redundancies across all agencies, departments, Crown entities, companies, or other organisations for which the Minister is responsible arising from Budget 2026 decisions, broken down by agency, as at 5 June 2026?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities did not submit any budget bids or spending initiatives for Budget 2026. The $368 million savings identified through Budget is made up of maintenance and depreciation expenditure lines, achieved through cost efficiencies rather than any staff reductions/redundancies. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development advises me that it does not budget for severance or other termination packages, and funds these from operating budgets as required. As the Ministry transitions to the new MCERT agency on 1 July 2026, the Ministry does not have any restructuring planned for 2026/27.
