26032 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Trade and Investment: How many permanent staff, if any, will be employed within each of the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, during 2025/26 financial year?

Hon Todd McClay: For Invest New Zealand , the Board and Chief Executive will make decisions on staffing once the entity is established. For New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, I am advised they employ 599 permanent employees as at 30 May 2025. With the establishment of Invest New Zealand, the number of permanent New Zealand Trade and Enterprise staff is expected to reduce when compared to the 2024/25 financial year. Details on the specifics of these staffing level changes are being worked through.
