Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for the Public Service: What briefings or advice, if any, has the Minister received on the fiscal implications of redundancies – voluntary or not – in each of the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies (where applicable within their portfolio) resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, listed by title and date, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Nicola Willis: As Minister for the Public Service, I have received no briefings on the fiscal implications of redundancies. I note that agencies are expected to manage any risks associated with their savings exercise within their agency baselines. This means any costs are included in the overall savings figures reported in the Budget Summary of Initiatives.
