Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Justice: What briefings or advice, if any, has the Minister received on the fiscal implications of redundancies – voluntary or not – in each of the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies (where applicable within their portfolio) resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, listed by title and date, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Nicole McKee: I have not received any briefings or advice on the fiscal implications of redundancies. I have been advised that in June, the Ministry of Justice will start consulting staff on proposals for change. No decisions will be made until the Ministry has carefully considered all feedback. The Ministry is not able to confirm impact on staff, including any redundancies, or estimated savings until then.
