Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Housing: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, what savings have been identified, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Chris Bishop: Pages 55-57 of the Budget 2024 Summary of Initiatives shows Budget 24 delivered net savings to the Crown from Vote Housing and Urban Development of $1.808 billion, including operating and capital expenditure, over four years. This comprises $2.096 billion of savings offset by $287 million of new funding for Kāinga Ora Crown-funded programmes, and social housing places. These net savings span the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities.
