25989 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister responsible for the GCSB: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if any, what savings have been identified, as at 30 May 2024?
Hon Judith Collins: The GCSB will be making savings of $7.62 million per year from 2024/25, by making efficiencies in areas including contractor and consultant spend, training and development, and travel.
In addition, funding of $5.742 million over four years that had been set aside in a tagged contingency for the GCSB in Budget 2023 to expand the mandate of the Government Chief Information Security Officer has been returned. The existing GCISO mandate will not change and baseline funding for this function remains.
