Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Economic Development: What briefings or advice, if any, has the Minister received on the fiscal implications of redundancies – voluntary or not – in each of the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies (where applicable within their portfolio) resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, listed by title and date, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Melissa Lee: I received advice as part of decisions relating to Budget 2024, some of which related to the fiscal implications of redundancies. This advise is listed in Attachment 1 I am withholding the title of one briefing as they are confidential advice to government. I am also updated weekly on MBIE's change process. While MBIE keeps me informed as Ownership Minister about organisational change relating to the fiscal environment, these are decisions for MBIE’s Senior Leadership Team to make and would not be subject to ministerial decision making. For New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) I received one document entitled NZTE Fiscal Update on 26 January 2024.
