25879 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Tertiary Education: How many complaints, if any, did Te Pūkenga receive regarding Recognition of Prior Learning in January - June 2026?
Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised the that the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST), formerly Te Pūkenga, does not receive individual learner complaints and therefore cannot comment on the specific nature of such complaints. Individual learner complaints are received and managed by the relevant business divisions within NZIST. Each year NZIST publishes a report that includes that includes the total number of complaints received across NZIST. NZIST’s 2024 report can be found here: TP-Self-Review-2024-WEB-Version-FINAL.pdf Page 36 of the report provides an overview of learner complaints, and includes themes but does not specifically note any complaints regarding Recognition of Prior Learning. I am advised that the 2025 report is currently under-development and that it is expected to be published by the end of July 2026. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 25880, 25881 and 25882 (2026).
