Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Will the Minister confirm the total amount of operating funding held in tagged contingency for the Going for Housing Growth – Pillar 3 council incentive initiative in Budget 2026 that remains subject to further decisions, the conditions on its release, and the dates by which those decisions are expected to be taken, if any?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Going for Housing Growth – Pillar Three: Council Incentives for Urban Development Tagged Contingency contains operating funding of $100 million per year from 2026/27. Cabinet has authorised the Minister of Finance, Minister of Housing and Associate Minister of Finance (Hon David Seymour) to jointly draw down funding subject to their satisfaction that detailed policy work is completed. Confirmation of joint Ministers’ in-principle decisions on policy design is expected to occur in June 2026. First payments from the fund are expected to be made on 1 April 2027.
