Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Statistics: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Canterbury Region, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that as at 30 May 2024, there were four out of 29 total redundancies (13.8 percent) located in the Canterbury region as part of meeting Stats NZ’s 7.5 percent savings target for Budget 2024.
