25853 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Government firmed up its position, if any, on whether gender apartheid should be recognised in the proposed crimes against humanity treaty since the matter was last raised at the United Nations General Assembly?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: The New Zealand government has not yet formed a view on whether a future crimes against humanity treaty should include the crime of gender apartheid as a stand-alone crime. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court already prohibits persecution on gender grounds.
