25844 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many, if any, Kāinga Ora houses have been retrofitted since 30 June 2025 and how many, if any, of those houses meet the Full Universal Design standard?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora completed a total of 408 retrofits in the period 1 July 2025 – 31 May 2026. Regarding the number of houses that meet Full Universal Design, Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it ceased tracking this information from July 2025 as the requirement to formally report against the 15 percent target of eligible newly constructed social homes that met Full Universal Design standards was discontinued in the Kāinga Ora 2025/26 Statement of Performance Expectations.
