25781 (2026). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: What, if anything, is the Prime Minister's Office policy on staff deleting work-related material held in personal email accounts after leaving Parliament, and was that policy in force in 2024?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: As Prime Minister, I can confirm my office relies upon policies and procedures on information management produced by the Department of Internal Affairs. The Department of Internal Affairs has a strict policy on information management and supporting procedures. This includes guidance on appropriate email management. This policy was in force in 2024. It is my expectation that all staff working in Ministers’ offices will follow the Department’s policy and supporting guidance.
