25779 (2026). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: What are the terms of reference of the Department of Internal Affairs review into the handling of the Smith v Fonterra briefing document and when is it due to report?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: The Department of Internal Affairs has advised me that it is working to assess what, if any, further information relating to the Smith v Fonterra briefing document needs to be captured on the public record to comply with the Public Records Act 2005. I am advised that actions include engagement with a former Ministerial staff member and an assessment of their Parliamentary IT account. I cannot comment further at this time.
