Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations: How much, if any, is the total budget in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2026/27 financial year on artificial intelligence- including costs on training staff, deploying systems, maintaining subscriptions and any other associated costs?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: Te Tari Whakatau purchases support services from the Ministry of Justice as part of a shared services agreement. This agreement covers a wide range of services and does not specify AI-related costs. Please see WPQ 25709 (2026) related to the Ministry’s overall costs. Ngāpuhi Investment Fund (Tupu Tonu) has no budget in 2026/27 financial year for artificial intelligence.
