25724 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the total cost, if any, to Health New Zealand of its website consolidation programme to date, broken down by financial year and by category?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand's website consolidation is a multi-million dollar cost-saving initiative. The following are costs for the website consolidation programme which have been incurred: • FY2023/24: $2,217,434 • FY2024/25: $2,246,940 • FY2025/26: $2,963,556 (as at 30 April 2026) These costs relate primarily to platform development and enhancement, content migration and consolidation, and programme delivery. I am advised that savings have already been made from the website consolidation programme, which excede the costs spent. Savings have been recovered through reduced hosting fees, vendor costs, mandatory updates, and third-party compliance reporting. Additionally, fewer websites mean fewer staff are needed to maintain channels. I am further advised that as at June 2026, 117 legacy websites have been consolidated into national platforms, reducing the cost of operating legacy websites and avoiding future upgrade and maintenance costs.
