Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police: How much, if any, is the total budget in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2026/27 financial year on artificial intelligence- including costs on training staff, deploying systems, maintaining subscriptions and any other associated costs?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police spent approximately $1.25 million on artificial intelligence from its baseline in the 2025/26 financial year and expects to spend a similar amount in 2026/27. The Serious Fraud Office will fund three ChatGPT Pro licenses in 2026/27, for its Electronic Forensics Team at a cost of USD$1035. The SFO also expects other initiatives including new technology and staff training in 2026/27 to relate to AI, but costs, if any, have not yet been determined and would be funded from within SFO's existing baseline.
