25677 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Police: How many permanent staff, if any, were employed within each of the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, during 2022/23 financial year?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to the attached table, which shows the active headcount employed by Police at each quarter-end date, by Constabulary, Authorised Officers/Temp Sworn, and other Police employees. These numbers do not include staff on fixed-term contracts, casual staff or contractors. They also do not include staff on leave without pay or parental leave at the time. Constabulary numbers always include authorised officers and temporarily sworn staff. Police maintains a Resource Allocation Target (RAT) for employment levels. However, the RAT for the financial year 2025/26 is in the process of being finalised by the Executive Leadership Team. Please note Police 500 growth programme target of 10,711 Constable FTE does not include Authorised Officers In regard to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), this information is or will be publicly available in the SFO Annual Review 2022/23 and 2023/24 questionnaire, and Vote Serious Fraud Estimates questionnaire online: https://selectcommittees.parliament.nz/reports?Tab=Current&Keyword=serious%20fraud&Parliament=54&From=2023-10-14 This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Questions 25700, 25706, 25890 (2025).
