25646 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, is Health New Zealand taking to enable national hospital-inpatient laboratory test data to be reported routinely?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand is establishing a national laboratory results repository on the national health data platform. The dataset will be used to identify at risk groups nationwide, such as patients with diabetes. I am further advised that at the end of June 2026, raw data from all districts will be inputted but will require extensive standardising, mapping and testing before it can be used for routine reporting.
