25637 (2026). Glen Bennett to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: Does she agree with the Prime Minister's statement that the Government is "concerned in general" with the rising number of hospitality closures, and if so, what specific actions, if any, is she taking in response?
Hon Louise Upston: I share the Prime Minister's general concern about pressures facing hospitality businesses. My priority, as the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, is to support the conditions needed for the sector to grow and thrive over the long term. This includes increasing visitor numbers and spend through tourism growth initiatives, such as the $70 million Major Events and Tourism Package, as well as addressing regulatory barriers holding businesses back from growth through the Hospitality Sector Review.
