Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Economic Development: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Canterbury Region, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Melissa Lee: I am advised that between December 2023 and 30 May 2024 9 employees who were located in the Canterbury Region were made redundant from the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. For New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, I am advised that following a consultation process, final decisions are still in progress and have not yet been communicated.
