Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Defence: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Judith Collins: As at 30 May 2024, no NZDF employees have lost, or are set to lose, their roles as a result of the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure. The Ministry of Defence has not undertaken any change processes and vacancies continue to be considered on a case by case basis. The majority of the Ministry’s work programme relates to multi-year, large scale military procurement and as projects are completed and new ones approved, its workforce can change as a result.
