25049 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for the Environment: What fiscal cliffs, if any, does the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, face following budget 2025?

Hon Penny Simmonds: The Resource Management Act reform programme secured funding in Budget 2025 for two years through to June 2027, but will require ongoing funding. Cabinet has requested a programme business case due by December 2025 to feed into the Budget 2026 processes. The Environmental Protection Authority has time limited funding to support Emissions Trading Scheme Market Governance, and upgrading our toxicological and ecotoxicological risk assessments. Funding for both is due to cease in 2026/27.
