24993 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 19673 (2026): on what date does the Minister expect to decide whether further assurance, including an independent review, is required; and what criteria will inform that decision?

Hon Chris Bishop: As noted in my reply to 19673 (2026), I have not considered it necessary to commission an independent or external review at this time. I am being kept informed of NZTA’s findings and progress regarding its investigations and oversight of audits into overseas conversions and am confident that NZTA is both addressing any issues identified and improving assurance processes. Once this work is complete, I will consider if additional assurance is required. I may seek an independent review if it is not evident that NZTA has adequately identified and rectified any issues following the evaluation of improvements it has made.
